This is an image of Gary GuinnGary Guinn teaches in the English department at John Brown University.  A chapter from his first novel, recently completed and looking for a publisher, won the 1997 open fiction competition of WORDS:  the Arkansas Literary Society.  "Eye of the Owl," the story presented here, is another chapter from that manuscript.  He has published two stories in the Rockford Review, and a half dozen poems in small literary magazines.  He attended the Sewannee Writers' Conference twice.  Guinn lives with his wife and two sons in Siloam Springs and, when he is not reading, writing, or teaching, likes to play—badly but happily—a mandolin with a group of folk/bluegrass loving friends.
